The 2023 NE-I District Honors Competition was held on the UNM-Los Alamos campus on Saturday October 21st. We had 18 piano students, from the studios of Juanita Madland, Janna Warren, Dr. Patricia Wood, Wendy Ge, Aejin Chang, Kim Bakkum, and Dr. Haewon Yang. Students from Los Alamos, Santa Fe, and Taos participated, and ranged from ages 8 to 17. Two distinguished pianists, Dr. Jacquelyn Helin and Dr. Jessie Lo were the judges for our honors competition this year. We heard lots of great talent, and the winners of each category is listed below. The first place winners of each category will travel to Albuquerque on Saturday November 11th to compete in the state honors competition! If you would like more information on the PMTNM honors competition and would like to participate next year, please contact the NE-I District Vice President, Dr. Haewon Yang at [email protected].
